A native Coloradoan, Mabel Edna Hill Johnson was born on July 17, 1917 in Denver. She was the saluditorian of her class at North High School in 1935. Mabel was a federal government employee until 1958. She married Dale L. Johnson in 1948 and the couple lived in New Mexico, Nebraska, Missouri and Virginia before returning to Colorado in 1976. Mabel was a lifelong volunteer, first for the Red Cross during WWII, later at the high school library in Falls Church Virginia, and most recently at the thrift store at Sunny Acres, where Mabel and Dale have been long time residents. She was a member of the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. Mabel "never met a stranger" and made friends wherever she went. She is survived by her husband, Dale; a daughter, Dale Peterson; three grandchildren, Laura (Logan) Abbott, Evan Thomas, and Matthew Peterson; and two great-granddaughters, Aydah and Joanna Abbott.
