November 1, 1919 — December 29, 2013

Maggie Virginia Morthole, Nov 1, 1919 - Dec 29, 2013

Maggie Virginia was born on the family farm near Palisade Nebraska on Nov 1 1919 to Claude Sailors and Maggie Mae (Land) Sailors, and passed away peacefully on Dec 29, 2013. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Garrett (married for 67 years), both parents and both brothers W. Stanley Sailors and Kenneth C Sailors. She is survived by her son Stuart Morthole of Fair Oaks CA, and her daughter Claudia Lantis of Aurora CO, three grandsons, three granddaughters, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. On Dec 20 1942, Maggie Virginia Sailors married Garrett Morthole of Culbertson, NE in Denver. In June 1943, they both moved to Richland Washington and worked at the Hanford Engineering Works until late July 1945. After a brief stay in Washington State, they returned to Palisade, Nebraska for a few years. Later while living in Scottsbluff NE, Garrett applied for Insurance Adjuster training in 1952 with Service Fire Insurance CO which became his (and later her) career occupation. They moved to their home of more than 40 years on Lamar Street in Denver in 1969. For the last 10 years of their careers, Virginia worked for Garrett as his secretary; both were very proud of their own insurance company, Bear Valley Adjusters. They retired in 1985. Maggie Virginia thoroughly enjoyed working around their home, their garden and flowers, traveling, and their long membership in the Trinity Lutheran Church on Yale Ave. Maggie Virginia touched the lives of many and will be missed by her family. A Funeral Service will take place 4:30 PM with a viewing from 5-8 PM on Wednesday January 8th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 South Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226. Graveside services will be Thursday Jan 9th at 2:30 PM (CST) at the Palisade Cemetery in Palisade, Nebraska.
