Manuel passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 9, 1932 in Denver, Colorado to Dora and Manuel Lucero, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Dora Lucero; brother, Richard Lucero, and sister, Betty Maestas. Manuel is also survived by his children: Barbara (Jeff) Gottlieb, Michael Lucero, Louis Lucero, Donnie Lucero, Laura Pettet, Manuel Lucero, Jr., and Diane Sutton; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He loved and cherished all of his children and he was always there in times of need and distress. He was the pillar of his family and he stressed to all to have a good education to make it in life. He was a member of his local VFW club and did a lot of civic work in the community. His motto is that you always have to work hard to achieve anything in life.
Manuel demonstrated that by working hard all of his life until the day of his death. He worked twenty years at the meat packing plant. Then he worked for AT&T and Quest for thirty-five years and finally worked another twenty-five years for the City and County of Denver for the Performing Arts Center. He was a very faithful man and honored his church.
