Margaret Bernadette "Berni" Cone, 64, of Denver, Colorado passed away from natural causes, Sunday morning, December 7, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie, son Mitchell, and grandchildren Hunter, Riley and Ryann, as well as by her parents Ray and Evelyn Cone, sisters Evelyn, Linda, and Bridget (spouse Gilbert or "Sluggo"), brothers Thomas and Bernard Martin and his spouse Sandy, numerous aunts and uncles, her special cousin Jerry Lynn and her spouse Billy, her two closest friends Lynn and Terri, and her loving canine companion "Buddy." Berni was devoted to her many nieces and nephews, Tommy, Timmy, Tesia, Mary, Katie, Kelsey, Ryan, Kevin, Daniel, Andrew, Patrick, Caroline, and Stephen, and Hannah, and was pre-deceased by her bother Ray Cone (spouse Trish) in 2009.
Berni left a legacy of giving: time, talents and energy to those she loved and cared about. She lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed laughing ('til it hurt), loving ('til it hurt), and living (even when it hurt). She loved holidays and Paris, Germany, and wine, cold milk and practical jokes (her preference was to see them happen to others – but could laugh about those pulled on her).
She lived by her principles and rigidly stuck to them. She was witty, intelligent, practical, generous (sometimes to a fault), sincere, loyal, and incredibly loving. She always had or made time for those she loved. Normally her wrath was short-lived and you knew when you crossed her boundaries of civility, respect, or decency -- you could expect her to stand up and tell you what you did and how you could fix it with her – if you didn't, your relationship wasn't going to continue.
She passed on the way she lived life – giving to those she loved. The family was told by the doctor that Berni probably wouldn't make it past midnight Saturday night, but a true testimonial to her fierce loyalty and love, she waited for her brother to drive all the way from South Dakota, some six and a half hours – allowing him, and all the other family members, to share once more their love before she departed for eternity. Another testimonial Berni left was the donation of her body to those who could use any of its parts to make life livable for others less fortunate or in need.
A memorial service for Berni's amazing life will be held at Three Trees Chapel in Littleton Colorado, on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, 13416 W Arbor Place Littleton, CO 80127
