Margaret Rose Paul, 78, of Aurora, passed away October 3, 2015.
She was born July 13, 1937 in Norwich, England, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Mann) Capes. On June 1, 1955 she married Eugene Paul, of Raleigh, North Dakota.
Margaret is survived by her children, Steven (Tammy) Paul, David (Sandra) Paul, Michael (Deborah) Paul, Charlene (Eugene) Paul, Wayne (Michelle) Paul; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Crawford and Edna (Wes) Gardner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Paul and parents Harry and Ethel Capes.
Margaret met her husband Eugene while he was stationed with the USAF in Norwich, England. It was a short courtship and they both had to get permission to marry each other. They were married on June 1, 1955. Shortly after they were deployed back to the USA. They remained married until Eugene died August 14, 1993. Margaret never remarried because her heart remained with Eugene forever.
Margaret was a homemaker and mother to 5 children, 4 sons and 1 daughter until they were old enough to stay on their own. She became a waitress at the Aurora Elks club. She loved the job and all the people she met during that time.
Margaret had many passions in her life. The most important was being a mother and grandmother. As told to us kids, Margaret was the favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews and they dubbed her their very own "Queen of England."
Among Margaret's hobbies in life was softball. She played on the league with military wives while their husbands were deployed. She played 1st base and was a pitcher. Margaret also loved to bowl. She was on several bowling leagues and at the same time she coached bowling to kids on the weekends. Margaret loved to gamble. Charlene took her to Las Vegas via car at least once a year. What a road trip that was. Singing to all the oldies and she even listen to my current music. On one trip she wanted a drink so she ordered a Fuzzy Navel which is Peach Schnapps and Orange Juice. After her 3rd one she went to order another one and at that point she called it a Nuzzy Favel. First time I saw my mom a little buzzed. We laughed so hard and it has been an on going joke between us. Once gambling came to Colorado we never went back to Las Vegas. Margaret tried to go as much as she can. Her friends Julie or Donna or family would drive her up the hill as often as we could. Margaret also loved playing Bingo or as she called it "Dobber Hell". Margaret also played cards.
If I would have to choose her favorite past time, it would be her gardening. After her morning coffee/tea and breakfast she would go out into her garden for the day. And boy, what a beautiful garden she had. I just wish I had her green thumb. Margaret had both a vegetable and flower garden that she tended to daily. Margaret also loved to watch the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. She was a true fan.
Margaret was very lucky in the friendship department. Her best friend from England since she was 5yrs old was with her. Daphne and mom have been best friends for 73 years. Margaret had a 50 year friendship with Charlene who she met in the military. Margaret also had best friends Julie for 20 years and Donna for 25 years. And the list goes on.
Now mom, Margaret and best friend, may you forever relax on your front porch with dad by your side watching the sun rise and the sun set. Give dad a big hug and kiss from all us kids and don't get into too much trouble. You will be missed more than you will ever know. You will be in our daily thoughts and prayers.
We are so lucky to call you our mother and our best friend. We love you!!!
