Margaret Barth Swetnam
Margaret (Peggy) Swetnam 88, of Lakewood, Colorado died September 29th, 2011 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Memorial services will take place at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 13119 W. 20th Ave. Golden, CO 80401 on Saturday, Oct 8th , 2 p.m. Pastor Dwight Hellmers will officiate. Interment will take place privately in the Memorial Garden at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheat Ridge CO.
Margaret Agnes Barth was born on June 26, 1923 in York, NE. She was the sixth of nine children of Carl and Louise (Snyder) Barth. She graduated from York High School, and Van Sant School of Business in Omaha NE. On July 10, 1948 she married Morton L. Swetnam of Trinidad, Colorado in York, Nebraska. She and her husband lived in a house they built on virgin prairie in eastern Wheat Ridge, CO for 25 years and later retired to Perry Park CO for 20 years. She worked, as an executive secretary, for Ideal Basic Industries and its subsidiaries for most of her career. She was involved as a volunteer in the PTAs of the schools her children attended and at the Lutheran Churches (Missouri Synod) that she belonged to over her lifetime. She was also a writer who contributed to business and church newsletters, and had several humorous articles published in the Empire magazine section of the Sunday Denver Post.
Margaret (Peggy) Swetnam was preceded in death by her husband Morton L. Swetnam, her parents and all but one of her siblings. She is survived by her sister Erma (Barth) Pieper, of York, Nebraska. her three children; Leslie Swetnam of Lakewood CO, Laurie Swetnam of Golden, CO and Tim Swetnam of Midland, TX, as well as her five grandchildren; Nick (Miranda) Wood of Salem OR, Julie (Daryl) Kohlerschmidt of Longmont, CO, Mark Wood of Denver, CO and Mike Wood and Jeff Wood of Golden.
