Marian Joyce (Rumsey) Blackie was born June 22, 1927 in LaJunta, Colorado to Walter and Lillie (Robertson) Rumsey. She graduated from Arizona Bible Institute in Phoenix, Arizona where she met her late husband, Ernest Blackie. They were married on December 26, 1948. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother.
Before moving to Denver, she lived in Holyoke, Colorado and worked at the Holyoke Enterprise Newspaper and the Phillips County Clerk's office. She attended the Berean Church in Haxtun, Colorado, the Venango Community Church, and the First Baptist Church in Holyoke.
She is survived by her children Joy (Tim) Butler and Walt Blackie, grandchildren Mark Butler, Anne Butler, Melissa (Jeremy) Olson and Andrew Blackie. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Engleman and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church in Denver and will be missed by all her friends in the Senior Sunday School Class.
Marian loved her God, her children and grandchildren. She went home to be with her Savior on July 27, 2012, and is together again with her husband Ernie.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Newcomer West Metro Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd. Private family burial services will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, August 2, 2012.
