Marie C. Will, a beloved wife, mother, educator, and friend entered the presence of the Lord peacefully on May 9, 2025, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Born on March 24, 1929, in Wellsville, Kansas, Marie's life was marked by her profound love for her husband and family, and teaching young children.
Marie worked diligently in her role as a second-grade teacher, where she inspired countless children with a love of learning. She retired from formal teaching to stay home and raise her children, volunteering in their schools, and working in early childhood education. Marie taught in various schools, including those in Milliken, Colorado; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Denver Public Schools. Her influence inspired all three of her daughters to follow in her footsteps.
Marie began her collegiate journey at Colorado Woman's College before continuing her education at the University of Denver, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.
The Denver chapter of her life began when she and her family moved to Colorado during the Great Depression in 1932. Her father opened Collins Bicycle Shop on east Colfax, a family business that ran for three generations, and continues to this day.
Marie had a social nature, enjoying the company of others and entertaining in her home. She was known for her "Odd Year Party" originating at Central Presbyterian in Denver, Colorado, bringing together friends from all over the country for 45 years. She enjoyed writing skits and performing them with her friends.
Marie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and spent 25 years serving Him as a Sunday School teacher at Messiah Lutheran Church. She later attended Southwest Bible Chapel where she loved being responsible for church bulletin boards, creating beautiful works of art.
Marie had a knack for nurturing plants, particularly tomatoes. She loved her many pets over the years, including her pet chicken and cats. Marie also enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting many countries around the world.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Richard, of nearly 63 years, three daughters and their spouses, sixteen grandchildren (five of which are spouses), and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by an infant son. She deeply loved them all and will be profoundly missed.
As we reflect on Marie's life, we remember a woman whose life touched many. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We rejoice that she is with the Lord in heaven and have confidence that we will see her, again, one day, through the saving grace of Christ. We love you!
