She was born August 18, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Marjel (Aubert) Harold. She graduated from Tennessee State University.
Marjel is survived by her son, Edward Simmons; and grandson, Christopher Simmons. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marjel Harold.
