Mark was a proud Marine, serving with honor in Vietnam. He will be remembered for the warm, creative personality that shone through his gruff warrior exterior demeanor. Mark needed to be tough to cope with the pain he frequently and stoically endured. He was fiercely independent, but relied and doted on his service dog, Midnight. Mark enjoyed music, and could occasionally be persuaded to play his piano for us.
Mark especially loved children, he was a favorite Uncle to his nephews; Nick Shugarts, Eric Shugarts and Aiden Smith and to his nieces; Angela (Darold) Gibson, Miranda Shugarts, and Lisa Shugarts.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Charles; his brother, Christopher, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mark is survived by his mother, Beverly; brother David (Amy); brother John Paul (Benita);brother Robert; brother Charles (Denise); sister Elizabeth (Mark) Smith; brother James; sister-in-law Cathy; Uncle Don Brungardt and many cherished cousins. He will be missed.
