He graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in computing. Professionally, he worked as an application developer for the City and County of Denver. Previously, he was a senior systems mengineer for Travelport, a software developer for Tyler Technologies, a senior developer for
Avow Systems, a systems analyst and programmer for The College of American Pathologists.
Above all, he loved his three children – Charles Cecil, William Galen, Beatrix Cara – who survive him. He is also survived by his parents, Garry and Carolyn Patterson; his friend and former wife of 17 years, Marcy Neth, and her entire family; aunt Barbara Moore; uncle Scott Moore; cousin Suzy Patterson; grandmother Elaine Moore; many friends from the different stages of his life; and his bearded dragon lizard, Garry Jr.
