Mark Patton passed away on December 22, 2025, in Denver, Colorado. He was born on August 25, 1965, in Boulder City, Nevada. Mark lived a life defined by hard work, and strong ties to his family and his community.
For more than two decades, Mark was a valued presence at the iconic Denver jazz club, El Chapultepec. He worked as a bouncer and bartender, helping maintain the iconic club’s spirited environment. Through his years there, he formed lasting relationships with musicians and patrons and took great pride in being part of a beloved Denver institution.
Mark shared his life with his wife, Karen Garcia. Together, they enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time in their mountain home whenever they could find an excuse to get away from the city.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and valued meaningful travel. He recently visited his son, Collin Heng-Patton, in Colombia, where they shared a memorable gondola ride over Medellín. The family would often travel on beach vacations to places like Mexico and the Dominican Republic. They also took many camping trips over the years as Mark and Karen graduated from a tent to a pop-up camper to an RV.
A graduate of Manual High School, Mark was known for his humor, generosity, and gentle nature. He found peace in simple routines—fishing, caring for his mountain home, walking his dogs, cutting wood for the winter, riding his ATV, and trying his luck at the blackjack table.
Mark is survived by his wife, Karen Garcia; his son, Collin Heng-Patton; his nephew, Demarco Garcia; his mother, Ria Van Mastrigt; his sister, Stephanie Treusein; his brother-in-law, John Treusein; and his nieces and nephews, Max, Julia, and Grace Treusein. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Patton, and his brother, Mike Patton. Mark will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, and quiet kindness, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
