Marlin W. Junge, age 79, of Strasburg, CO passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO, surrounded by family as he went to meet our Lord.
He was born November 9, 1936 at York, NE to Clarence and Emma (Tonniges) Junge. He graduated from Benedict High School in 1955, then served in the Army as a Water Supply Specialist from 1955-1957. Following his honorable discharge he worked for Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO in ground maintenance. Marlin was united in marriage to Kathleen Holmes on October 26, 1958 in Polk, NE. Together they had four children. After his career at CSU he accepted a position at Ridge State Home and Training School in Wheat Ridge, CO as a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. On January 28, 1978, Marlin was united in marriage to Jan Hurtado, who brought four children into his life. In 1979 Marlin and his family moved to Strasburg, CO where he began his career as a general contractor. Marlin was skilled in the operation, repair and maintenance of many different types of equipment and machinery.
He was the general contractor in the construction of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bennett, CO with assistance from Laborers for Christ and various members of the church. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 183, and served Eastern Colorado in many capacities. He was a dedicated Broncos and Rockies fan, avid pilot and was a passionate hunter and fisherman.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Jan Junge and his children: Paula Burnham, husband Randy, and their children, Jonathan and wife Beth, Sarah Bloch and husband Bryce, all of Lincoln, NE; Julie Flechs, of Omaha NE; Doug Junge, wife Kim, of Norfolk, NE and their children, Molly Halvorson and husband Drew, of Omaha, NE, and Alyson Junge, of Lincoln, NE; Julianna Schuman and son Samuel, of Lakewood, CO; Leo Hurtado, wife Shellie, and their children, Leo Jr. and Cody, all of Hugo, CO, Dustin Gamble and wife Lisa, of Commerce City, CO; Dianne Turner of Mulga, AL and her children Wesley Turner, of Westminster CO, and Kristi Turner, of New Providence, NJ; Angie Hudson, and son Elijah, of Littleton CO. He is also survived by sisters Donna (Cornie) Sheehan of Seward, NE; Ardith (Gerald) Wolvin and Connie (Gerald) Saunders both of Lincoln, NE; and brother Dale (Marlene) Junge of Wheat Ridge, CO. Also left to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews and other family members and a host of friends. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alberta Brackhan, sister Joyce Waibel, and his daughter Carol Annemarie Junge.
Interment with Military Honors will be at 11:15am Friday, February 26, 2016 at Fort Logan Military Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 1:30pm at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bennett, CO with Pastor Carl Frank officiating. Memorials may be directed to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Collier Hospice Center or Halcyon Hospice.
