Martin Black

Martin Black, 91, of Denver, died Thursday January 2, 2014 at Alpine Living Center. Son of Merrell and Viola Dunlap Black, he was born November 21 1922 in Red Rock, Oklahoma.

He served 2 years in the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. He earned a BS in Animal Husbandry from Oklahoma A&M, now University of Oklahoma, in 1949. He was employed at Boeing Aircraft, Wichita KS and Seattle WA before moving to Denver to work for Martin Marietta.

He was married to the late Joyce Knox Black for 44 years.

Surviving are 6 children, Marsha Kirby of Olathe CO, K'Aun Nelson of Luck WI, Martin L. Black of Denver, Dana O'Connell of Charlotte NC, Jo Valentine of Luck WI, and Jim Black of Delta CO; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Marie Hofmann of CA.

Services will be 11:00 am, January 16, 2014, at Beth Eden Baptist Church followed by burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Wounded Warriors.
