Marvin Paul Calkins was born October 27, 1956 in Aurora, Colorado. He graduated from Aurora Central High School and recently retired at the age of 52 from his long career as a Teamster. Marvin passed away on October 23, 2011 at the young age of 54.
Marvin, or better known to many as Marv, Dad, or Grandpa, was an extraordinary but simple man. He was one of four children born to Duane and Christina Calkins. He leaves to cherish precious memories his children (son) Matt Calkins and spouse Sara, (daughter) Lauren Dorman and spouse Chris, (grandchildren) Tyler Calkins, Owen Calkins, Brendan Calkins, Kenley Dorman, Keagan Dorman, Emma Calkins, and Benjamin Dorman, (mother) Christina Vassilakos, (father) Duane Calkins and spouse Jane, (brothers) Allen Calkins and Ronnie Calkins, (sister) Elaine Gallegos, and countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Marv loved laughing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved gardening, cooking, barbequing, and sipping on a beer while listening to country music. Just for the record he always said Alan Jackson looked like him, not the other way around! Marv will forever be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, compassion, generosity, and trademark sarcastic sense of humor.
