Marvin Leonard Burfield, 72, of Lakewood, passed away on July 8, 2016.
Marvin was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1943 at Fitzsimmons Army General Hospital, the first son of Marvel and Vera (Irvin) Burfield. He grew up in Otis, Kansas, graduating from Otis Rural High School in 1961 and graduated from Kansas State University in 1965. After graduating from college, he lived and worked in Amarillo, TX. In 1968, Marvin moved to Lakewood, CO where he raised his family. He worked for the U.S. Government, Bureau of Mines for 33 ½ years.
In his younger days, Marvin competed in track/cross country running, basketball, and football. After graduating from college, he played soccer, softball and bowled on several bowling leagues. His proud moment in bowling was beating the "pro" that he was paired up with in a Denver Pro/Am Bowling tournament. Marvin's love of bowling is what got him out of the house after retirement at least once a week until he died. He never missed a Bronco football game or Rockies baseball game on TV.
Marvin is survived by his mother Vera Burfield of Great Bend, KS; sons, Brand (Lori) Burfield of San Leandro, CA, Timothy (Suzy) Burfield of San Ramon, CA, and Bryan Burfield of Lakewood, CO; daughter Kristina (Dr. F. Mark) Paz of Littleton, CO; brothers Brent (Margaret) Burfield of Miami, FL, and Rev. Bruce (Keli) Burfield of Belleville, KS; sister Andrea (Delbert) Nelson of Great Bend, KS; grandchildren Kimberly, Aaron, Rachel, Jeffrey, Kayli, Jacob, Madison, Alyssa, Tyler, Kelsey, Bronson and Logan. He is preceded in death by his father Marvel Burfield.
Marvin was a kind and generous father and grandfather who was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all of his family.
