Mary A. Grant, 78, of Thornton, passed away September 2, 2016.
She was born March 24, 1938 in Chacon, New Mexico, the daughter of Lauriano and Tiofilita (Martinez) Martinez.
She was a graduate of Adams City High School. She attended Metro State College.
Mary worked as a Pharmacist's Assistant at Commerce City Drug and Derby Pharmacy.
She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Welby.
She enjoyed sewing and will be remembered for her amazing embroidery and crafts. Mary would sell her crafts at the flea market and various craft fairs all over the state with her companion, Gil. Christmas was the favorite holiday of her family because Mary did everything to make it as special as possible. Mary loved to travel and educate her companions on the trip with the scenery and landmarks, even if it was only her second trip to the area. She will be remembered as a trusted daughter to her parents, an amazing friend to her sisters and brothers and a devoted and loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of their friends. She was very devoted to her family helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, not only in education, but also their spiritual life in the Catholic Church. She was godmother to numerous godchildren. Mary welcomed anyone into her home and never knew a stranger. She will be dearly loved and forever missed.
Mary is survived by two children, Mark Anthony Grant and Lisa E. Hutchinson; Seven Grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Grant, Carrie (Jason) Lucero, Christina Grant, Jennifer Grant, Angee Grant, Nicholaus Hutchinson and Lucas Hutchinson; four step-grandchildren, Justin (Michelle) Welters, Shelby Roorda and Dillon Roorda and Amanda (Steve) Jennings; 17 great-grandchildren; Four Sisters, Alice M (the late Pete) Rosales, Vicki (the late Julio) Aragon, Mary (Samuel) Rosales and Linda L. Martinez; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and her Sister-In-Law, Lydia Baca.
She is preceded in death by Father, Lauriano Martinez, Mother, Tiofilita Martinez, Son, Christopher John Grant, Six Brothers, Benses Martinez, Nicolas Martinez, Alfonso Martinez, Dennis Martinez, Max C. Martinez and Gilbert Martinez, Sister, Dolores Martinez and Mary's beloved companion, Gilbert Romero.
