Mary Aleece Chiono

Mary Aleece Chiono of Denver passed away May 9, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Durango, and grew up on the Western Slope before moving to Denver. She worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. She loved spending time with family, friends, and especially her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and was a life long learner. She is survived by her mother Peggy Jo Rutherford; sisters Michele Handschuh, Cecile Pierce, Camille (Michael) Kauffeld, brothers; Mark (Kathy) Chiono, Matt Chiono, Tim Chiono, Tony (Liz) Chiono; four nieces Catherine, Chelsea, Emily and Caroline; five nephews David, Griffith, Logan, Harrison, and Avery. She is preceded in death by her father Ted (Maxine) Chiono and nephew Dylan Chiono. In lieu of flowers, please honor Aleece by spending time enjoying some of her favorite places; the Denver Zoo, the Botanical Gardens, and the Museum of Nature and Science.
