Mary Catherine Pakiz, of Aurora, passed away December 30, 2015.
She was born December 7, 1919 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Catherine (Lies) Hankes. On June 2, 1945 she married John Pakiz, of New York City, New York.
Mary was a woman of courage, faith, strength, and humor. In addition to raising six children, she was a cook at St. Therese School and ran her own catering business. In her later years, her generosity extended to the community of Aurora. She fed the homeless at Friends of St. Andrew for twenty two years greeting each client with a smile and a chat. Her habit of writing newsy letters uplifted the many people who received them. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and church member. Her profound Catholic faith sustained her in difficult times and made her the happy, kind, warm person that she was.
Mary is survived by her children, John (Patricia) Pakiz, Pamela S. (Dennis) O'Connell, Jeffrey (Cindy) Pakiz, Priscilla (Timothy) Pakiz, Patrick (Anita) Pakiz, and Lisa (Daniel) Davison; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Pakiz, parents, John & Catherine Hankes, and eight siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of St. Andrew, 1525 Dallas Street, Aurora, CO 80010 or http://queenofpeace.net/friends_st_andrew.html.
