Mary Esther Simmons Day was born December 13, 1929 in Ida, Louisiana, and left this world on July 27, 2016, at her daughter's home in Lakewood, Colorado, with her boys at her side.
Mary worked for 35 years as a nurse at Rose Medical Center and served on the team that pioneered open heart surgery in Denver. Gardening, travel, family and learning were her passions.
Mary is survived by her loving family which include son Michael, his wife Betsy and their children Laura and fiancé Chris Turner, Breann and husband Derek Sanford, Bobby, Bethanne and Meredith, and her great-grandchildren Finn and Piper. In addition, she is survived by her daughter Sally, husband Steve Butler, Sally's son Michael, his wife Rena, and her great-grandson Graeme. She is survived by her son Steve, his wife Linda and their daughters Lindsay and Melissa and husband Ryan Circle. Her youngest daughter Carol is supported by William and their children Alicia, Andrea and husband Chris Kerr, Jeremy and Marisa and her great-grandchildren Tyler, Johnny, Cole, Kolya, Hunter, Lily, Nick, Brooke, James, Chase, Nina and Peter.
Additionally she is survived by her sisters Nancy Simmons Kirby and Linda Williams of Oil City, Louisiana, and her brother Charles Simmons and wife Marge of Wisconsin.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Earl Welton and Lula Mae Simmons as well as her brother Bud and sisters Mavis, Molly, Betty Lou and Dorothy Virginia.
