On June 2, 2025, Mary B. (Kimbrough) Eby of Littleton, Colorado, passed away at the age of 97. She was born on October 11, 1927 in Lake Arthur, New Mexico.
She was a kind, generous loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her spunky nature and sharp wit created a joy with her presence. Mary was a hard-worker, who wanted to feed everyone. Feeding family and guests was the way she showed love.
This feisty, small-statured woman (only 4'11") was a "little bullet" (as some referred to her). She walked 5 miles each day for most of her life. And, she loved to trap shoot in her middle years. Her passion was animals. Turtles, iguanas, birds, dogs and cats were pets to her. Her heart was open to all animals. She also loved gardening. Hard work was fun to her. Cooking, mowing the lawn, cleaning, picking weeds, she was always working.
Mary was an active member of Eastern Star for over 60 years. She served at each star point, was Chaplain, and was a member of the Sunshine Committee, visiting elderly members.
Mary served as a Girl Scout leader as well as dedicated a significant part of her life to working in the lunchroom at Kunsmiller Middle School, where a number of her girl scouts attended. She nurtured young minds not just with food, but with genuine care and attention. Her laughter echoed through the hallways, and her nurturing spirit brought comfort and joy to children and staff alike. Her passion for service was evident in every meal she served, as she understood the profound impact that nourishment and kindness can have on a child’s day. She grew old often thinking about the young girls in her troop. She loved them and asked about them up until her death.
Mary loved sports, particularly football. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and attended countless games. She and her husband traveled to two Superbowls to cheer on their beloved Broncos.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 68 years, Clarence A. Eby. Also deceased are her parents, Basil Dewy Kimbrough and Mary Elizabeth Knott Kimbrough. All 5 siblings passed before her.
Mary is survived by her 5 children, June Stokes, Ginger Miller (Scott), Nancy Lantz (Charles Johns), Arthur Eby (Linda), and Mary Harper. Also survived by her 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great, Great Grandchildren.
May you rest in peace, dear Mary.
