Mary Ellen Tobey, 95, of Denver, passed away February 1, 2015.
She was born November 29, 1919 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Poyser) Graf. She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.
In 1943 she married her high school sweetheart Richard Obenchain. He predeceased her in 1974. She married J. Franklin Tobey, of Sacramento, California in 1976. He died in 1988.
Mary Ellen loved bridge, golf, sewing, entertaining, and travel. She was a past president of Junior League of South Bend and volunteered in many capacities. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Bend and then San Marino Community Church in California. She and Richard lived in Indiana, California, and Texas. She and Tobey lived in Sacramento, CA and Lake Tahoe. As a widow she lived in Santa Rosa, CA before moving to Parkplace Retirement Community in Denver, CO to be close to her daughter and family.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Nancy Obenchain (Burridge "Bill") Omeron of Lakewood, CO and Thomas R. (Hillary) Obenchain of Alta Loma, CA; four grandchildren, Susie, Tiffany (Ben), Meredith, and Richard; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews with whom she was also close. She is preceded in death by Father, Edward James Graf, Mother, Clara Elizabeth Graf, Brother, Albert E. Graf.
