Mary Esther Greenwalt, 84, of Lakewood, entered into Heaven on Saturday February 21st. She was born to Adolfo and Rita Ruiz, on September 22, 1941 in Longmont Colorado. Mary graduated from Manual High School in Denver, Colorado in 1959. She married Tom Greenwalt 1963 and they lived together in Denver. They lived briefly in Texas during Tom's Army training. They moved to their forever home in Lakewood, CO in 1971.
Mary worked during her senior year in high school at the Dailey Clothing Store in downtown Denver. After graduation she worked for Dr. Rene Rodriguez as a receptionist. Later Mary joined the US Civil Service and worked for the US Postal Service, the National Park Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation. She spent 29 years with the US government and retired in 1994.
She was a wonderful Christian woman who showed every day what it looks like to truly love and serve Christ and others. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and her faith guided the way she lived, loved, and gave of herself. She served faithfully at church in many roles but made an impact on so many through her leadership and teaching in children’s ministries.
Mary is survived by her husband Tom, sister Flora Mills (Ralph), brother Ralph Ruiz (Pauline), her two daughters Rita Johnson (Roger), Michelle Delgado (Mondo) and 5 grandchildren Mondo (Eva), Tamrick, Jesse, Izick and Taylor. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Levy, Landon, Mondo III, Tesla, Ray, Ella, Zoey and Myzel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rita and Adolfo Ruiz, siblings Robert Ruiz, Cora Sanchez, Manuel Ruiz, Adolph Ruiz Jr., Jess Ruiz, Nick Ruiz, Joe Ruiz and her grandson Casey.
