Mary Isabel Henderson, 68, died peacefully on October 3, 2015 in Aurora, Colorado. Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 9th at 10am at St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Watkins, Colorado.
Mary was born May 20, 1947, in Socorro, New Mexico to Jose and Romelia Martinez, one of 9 children. She graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico with a scholarship to the University of New Mexico in 1965.
Beginning in 1973, she worked at Citizens Bank in Pampa, Texas for several years. Mary attended Amarillo College and received her Real Estate license in Amarillo, Texas. She enjoyed selling Real Estate in Dumas, Texas for 12 years. In 1991 Mary was hired at the Department of Motor Vehicles with the Texas DPS in Dumas. She retired from the DPS with 20 years of service. After retirement, she moved from Dumas to Amarillo in 2011.
During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren and relished the time she spent with them. She always brought candy and treats for her grandchildren. She was nicknamed by Jacob, her first grandson. He called candy "kiki," and because grandma always came to visit with candy, she became known as
"Ki-Ki-Ma."
She also loved attending daily Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Amarillo, Texas. She was a very devout Catholic and had a strong devotion to Our Blessed Virgin Mary and would pray the Rosary daily. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family very much. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and the source of her strength. This is a treasured gift that she passed on to her children and grandchildren; one for which we will always be eternally grateful. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her son and his spouse, Jamie and Amy Henderson; daughter and her spouse, Carrie and Michael Weber; grandsons, Jacob Henderson (18), Trevor Henderson (14), Ryan Weber (13), John Weber (7); granddaughter, Lucy Henderson (8)
