This is a tribute to Mary Alice Kathrens. Born on January 23, 1944, in Bourbon County, Fort Scott, Kansas, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2026, at 82 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Roy Jamison “Roy Jamison,” her mother, Margaret Lee Jamison, her brother, Marvin Lee Jamison, and her eldest granddaughter, Tiffany Kay Erickson.
Mary attended Denver’s West High School and Abraham Lincoln High School. It was at West High School that she met the love of her life, Ronald Eugene Kathrens. They later married and shared a devoted union lasting over 48 years.
Mary was the loving mother of three children: Marilee, Ronda, and James, and the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: seven granddaughters—Tiffany, Brittany, Carolyn, Aleace, Veronica, Justice, and Liberty—and one grandson, Hunter. She also had three great-grandsons, Luca, Dalton Jr., and Jeremiah, and one great-granddaughter on the way. Her eldest granddaughter, Tiffany, passed away in 2014.
An accomplished salon owner, Mary earned her cosmetology license at 24. She was a talented artist who loved oil painting and also worked as a Confidential Intermediary for the State of Colorado, reuniting countless adopted families.
Mary had a passion for travel, enjoying planes, trains, automobiles, and her RV, and she cherished fishing as a favorite pastime.
Known for her kind and welcoming nature, Mary never met a stranger and deeply connected with those around her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and joyous spirit. Her life was a blessing, loved beyond words.
