Mary Kathryn Quinn

Mary Kathryn Quinn, 89, of Denver, passed away February 1, 2015.

She was born July 7, 1925 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mae (Mulligan) Mahlstedt. She attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and Metro State College in Denver where she received her bachelors in Early Childhood Education. On April 7, 1947 she married Quinten Quinn, of Palmer, Iowa.

Mary is survived by her husband Quinten; children, Timothy Quinn, Terry (John) Sanders, Kathy Quinn, Matt (Chris Tolve) Quinn, Pat (Kym) Quinn; and four grandchildren, Hannah Katz-Urvan, Cameron Quinn, Brian Katz, and Shannon Allain. She is preceded in death by her father, George Mahlstedt and mother, Mae Mahlstedt.

Mary was a creative homemaker who utilized her talents as a cook, gardener and seamstress for her family. She returned school in the 1970's, completing her degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught preschool for many years. Later, she worked with social services assisting people with disabilities seeking support. Mary was an avid gardener throughout the years. She loved sharing information about plants with her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Denver Hospice, 501 S. Cherry Street, Denver, CO 80204.
