Mary Louise Bullard

February 20, 1925 — November 9, 2015

Mary Louise Bullard, age 90, of Lakewood, Colorado died November 9, 2015.
She was born February 20, 1925, in Meckling South Dakota. She was the third of three children. Mary attended school and worked with her parents and older brother and sister on a ranch in South Dakota and also while living in small towns in southern Illinois during economic hard times of the 1930's.

Mary was an excellent student and graduated as the Valedictorian from Willow Hill High School class of 1943 in Willow Hill, Illinois. She then briefly worked in a factory producing shoes and other war materials during World War II. She had met Spencer Ardell Bullard before the War and they corresponded by hand written letters during Spencer's time in the Army during the Pacific campaign battles of World War II. These letters led to their love and desire to be united at the wars end.

Mary and Spencer were married in January 1946 following his return from the Army in November 1945. Spencer later attended the University of Illinois and earned both a Bachelor and Masters in Math and Science Education while Mary helped him read and memorize many of the college text books due to his poor eyesight and felt that she had also earned the degrees.

Mary and Spencer lived in Robinson and Champaign Illinois for the first years of their marriage. It was there that her two sons and first daughter were born. In 1956 the family moved to Connersville, Indiana. In 1958 Mary and Spencer moved the family to Littleton, Colorado. While in Littleton a second daughter was born. Mary raised her four children and made many lifelong neighborhood and church friends while in Littleton. In the early 1980's Mary and her husband and youngest daughter moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where they lived until 1984. Mary and Spencer came back to Lakewood Colorado where they lived near their adult children, grand children and great grand children while moving into their retirement years.

Following her husbands death in 2014 Mary moved to the Meridian Lakewood senior living center.

Mary is survived by four children: Ken, Steve, Pat and Marilyn. Mary is also survived by three grandchildren: Scott, Jeff, and Nicole; and three great grandchildren: Kaelyn, Shane and Lanie.

Mary's interests included spending time with family, reading and going to the educational and entertainment programs provided by the Meridian Lakewood. She loved life, her family and socializing with people.
