Mary Louise Gonzales, 72, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a family who will love her forever.

Mary had a gift for making everything around her more beautiful and more joyful. She took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home, she was legendary for her holiday cookies and pies, and she could — and often did — out-fish her husband Louis.

Some of her happiest days were spent on mountain weekend drives with Louis, taking in Colorado's beauty together.

Mary is survived by her beloved Husband, Louis Gonzales; her Daughter, Melissa Sydow (Michael); Grandson, Nate Sydow (Karley); Stepson, Carlos Gonzales (Amber); Grandson, Cody Gonzales; and Granddaughter, Jazmine Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Leona Carpenter; her Father, Andrew Shell; her Daughter, April Zortman; her Brother, Chuck; her Sister, Hope; and her stepson, Louis Gonzales Jr.

Mary loved fiercely, baked generously, decorated exquisitely, and lived with a wonderful sense of humor and grace. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80226.

A reception will immediately follow the memorial service at the Northglenn Elks Lodge #2438, 10969 Irma Dr., Northglenn, CO 80233 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
