Mary Margaret Williams (April 11, 1931-August 18, 2014)


Mary Margaret Williams, daughter of Timothy McCarthy and Esther Swords, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2014 at 2:44 PM at Aurora South Hospital. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 11, 1931, Mary was 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Williams, her sister, Norene Mulcahy, and her brother, Timothy McCarthy. She is survived by her son, George Robert Williams, Jr., her daughter, Gail Williams, and her son, Glenn Williams. She is also survived by her grand children, Josiah Williams and Allison Williams. Mary is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, the sons and daughters of her brother, Timothy and her sister Norene.


Although a mother and wife for the preponderance of her life, Mary spent a season working at Blue Cross/Blue Shield from 1980-1994. While at Blue Cross, Mary started as a Claims Processor and worked her way up to the position of Systems Analyst.


A lifelong learner, Mary played bridge and took a variety of classes, including Ceramics. Honoring her heritage, Mary was an avid fan of all things Irish, having visited Ireland in 1990. Mary was also an avid Denver Broncos fan, holding season tickets from 1968-1988. Mary and her husband, George Robert, attended Super Bowl XII in New Orleans, LA. Mary also served in a variety of ministries at Aurora First Christian Church.


Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Aurora First Christian Church, 1601 South Dayton Avenue, Aurora, Colorado, 80011. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM also at Aurora First Christian Church, 1601 South Dayton Street, Aurora, Colorado, 80011. Service attenders are invited to a celebratory lunch immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado, 80236.
