Mary Alice Martinez, 79, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2017 in Thornton, Colorado after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Mary was born on May 24, 1937 to Enrique and Juanita Aguilar in the small town of Las Animas, Colorado. During her teenage years, her family moved to La Junta, Colorado. There her father was a farmer who traveled to sell produce and her mother was a homemaker. Mary graduated from La Junta senior high school in 1956. She continued her education at Otero Junior college for two years following high school.
In 1958, Mary moved to Denver where she met her sweetheart, Paul Martinez. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic church on February 27, 1960. Paul and Mary had their first two daughters, Diana and Vicky. In 1962, the family moved to La Puente, California and resided there for 5 years before returning to CO in 1968. Once back home in Denver, Paul and Mary had their son Paul Anthony and 7 years later, they had their daughter Sirena.
Mary kept busy both working and caring for her family. She enjoyed shopping, bowling, traveling with her husband and visiting with family and friends. Mary was an active member of Praise Center church where her and her husband served as ushers.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years Paul, her three daughters, Emily Diana Sanchez (Albert) of Littleton, Colorado; Vicky Ann Gaschler (Paul) of Commerce City, Colorado; and Sirena Marie Rodriguez (William Jr.) of Lakewood, Colorado; her seven grandchildren Marlena, Nichole, Rodney, Jessica, Darlene, Savannah and Daniella; her nine great-grandchildren Sterling, Michael, Jayla, Cory, Emily, Jaslyn, Christopher, Shiloe and Minaya.
She is preceded in death by her parents Enrique and Juanita Aguilar, son Paul Anthony (1990), sister Terry (1996) and brother Enrique Jr. (2006).

Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Praise Center Church in Denver, Colorado immediately followed by a reception at Lakewood Link recreation center in Lakewood, Colorado. Private inurnment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
