Mary Ellen Stodden, age 93, passed away the evening of June 9, 2017 in her home in Wheat Ridge after having her four children, Sharon Archer, Larry Stodden, Donnelle Finken, and Roxanne Dinnell close by her side all that day. Mary was born on January 14, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa and became the beloved adopted daughter of Almeda and Albert McKeiver from early infancy. She received the sacraments of baptism and holy Communion in the Catholic Church at a young age. After graduation from East High School in Sioux City, she married Donald Robert Stodden in 1943.
With no siblings of her own she took delight in her in-laws, Dave & Rita Stodden, Doris and Cliff Lorenzen, Shirley and Dean Davis, and Frank and Lavern Stodden. Mary's husband and in-laws all preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother and grandmother she had many interests in her life including gardening, sewing, cooking, pets, swimming, tennis, camping, decorating, the parish food bank ministry, and traveling to name just a few. She even tried cross-country skiing. But what her children are most indebted to her for is her loving example of how to serve God by loving Him and His Word and all of His beautiful creation. We look forward to being with her again in Heaven.
If anyone desires to send flowers, may we suggest you give a donation instead to your favorite charity or to the parish in Mary's name. That will please her tremendously.
