In Loving Memory of Mary

Mary was born on February 9, 1952, in Denver, Colorado. She spent her childhood growing up in several states before eventually finding her way back to Colorado, but a part of her heart always belonged to the ocean.

Florida, especially Cocoa Beach, held a special place in her life. Long ago, surfing was her joy. She loved the water, the freedom, and the feeling of being out on the waves. It was more than something she did, it was a part of who she was and a time in her life filled with happiness and adventure.

Mary was the wonderful wife of George, who preceded her in death in 1994. She leaves behind her son, Chris (Katie); her cherished granddaughter, Hailey; her daughter, Nicole; and her sisters, Patty McGregor, Stephanie Schultz, and Donna Caynowski (Bill), along with extended family and many dear friends.

Family was at the heart of Mary's life. She and George took Chris and Nicole on countless vacations, traveling to many different places and filling their lives with adventures, laughter, and memories that would last a lifetime. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special and for creating traditions that brought everyone together.

Mary was endlessly creative. She loved crafting, art, and sewing, and she was an amazing seamstress. She poured her imagination and love into making costumes for her family, decorating for the holidays, and creating special moments for the people she loved. She was especially passionate about Halloween and loved carving pumpkins with her family, often starting much earlier than anyone else thought necessary.

But perhaps what people will remember most about Mary was the way she made them feel.

She was silly, kind, caring, strong, and fearless. She paid attention to the little details. She always had time to listen. She had a deeply maternal heart and a remarkable ability to make people feel cared for and important.

Mary was sweet, creative, and selfless, often putting others before herself. Even when she was struggling, she somehow found a way to lift the people around her up. Her love was generous, her spirit was strong, and her presence brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.

She leaves behind not only the people who loved her, but a lifetime of memories: family adventures, handmade creations, holiday traditions, laughter, stories, and the countless little ways she showed her love.

Mary lived with a big heart, a creative spirit, and an adventurous soul. She loved deeply, gave freely, and will be missed more than words can say.

May she find her way back to the water, where the waves are gentle, the sun is warm, and she is free to roam again.
