Mary Teresa Walsh, 79, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. She was born on September 26, 1945, in Galway, Ireland, to Marcus and Mary Walsh.
At the age of 18, Mary made the courageous journey to the United States, where she built a life filled with love, resilience, and laughter. She proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1994.
Mary is survived by her beloved children, Michael C. Burge and his wife Terri Burge of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Roseann M. Burge-Cobb and her husband Donald K. Cobb Sr. of Aurora, Colorado. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, John Coleman Burge and Camae M. Oakes, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Kate McDonagh, Agnes Walsh, Jude Kelly, and Michael Walsh. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Maggie, Marcus, Coilín, Ann, and Bríd.
Mary was known for her fun-loving spirit and generous heart. She never met a stranger—treating everyone she encountered as though she had known them for a lifetime. With her warm smile and quick wit, she could light up any room. Mary worked as a waitress and bartender, careers that perfectly suited her natural people skills and her gift for making others feel welcome.
She was a woman who would quite literally give you the shirt off her back. Lovable, kind-hearted, and giving, Mary leaves behind countless fond memories. There are stories that will live on in the hearts of her family—stories best kept among loved ones, treasured for generations.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
