Matyas Cer, 87, of Denver, CO passed away Sunday August 23, 2015.
He was born in Budisava, Yugoslavia on August 25, 1927 to Terezs and Janos Cser. He only attended 3 years of school and then helped work on his father's farm. In 1950 he married Verona Bujdoso and they were together for a wonderful 56 years before she passed on May 17, 2006.
He is survived by two children; Matyas Cer and Marika Brlecic, and 6 grandchildren; Steven Cer, Heidi Brlecic, Daniel Cer, Diana Cer, Matthew Cer, and Andrew Cer. He also had the joy of having 5 great-grandchilden; Elise Cer, Maggie Cer, Caleb Cer, Mila Cer, and Daniel Cer.
In 1963, Matyas, Verona, Maria, and Matyas made the long journey to the United States where they first came to live in Loveland, CO. They then moved to Denver, CO where he bought his first house in the US.
He was an electrician who worked for Denver Public Schools for many years. He loved to butcher which he did for many years even while here in the US. He was always a family man and put his family before himself. No matter what was needed he was always willing to help and be there for his children and their children. He was an amazing, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Matyas Cer will always be in all of our hearts which he touched deeply and through his family will continue to live on. He will always be remembered as the amazing strong man and family man that he was to us all.
A viewing will be held Monday, August 31, 2015 at 5-7pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home and the funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11am at the Newcomer Funeral Home followed by the burial at Littleton Cemetery.
