Maurine Carver Hoffman passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in Littleton, Colorado on December 30, 2015. She was born July 9, 1922 to Frank A. and Greeta Carver on a farm between Indianola and Bartley, Nebraska. She spent her early childhood there and in March 1928, Maurine moved with her family to a ranch property three miles west of the small village of Crookston, Nebraska where she spent the rest of her youth.
Maurine's elementary school years were spent at the North Star one room country school three miles northwest of the ranch. She attended and graduated from High School at Crookston, Nebraska. Maurine's college years started in 1940 at Taylor University, a small Christian college in Upland, Indiana. She interrupted her college years to work in a defense plant in New Orleans in 1944-45. After finishing her college education, she taught school in Puerto Rico and in Alaska.
During her teaching years, she helped on the ranch in the summers and reconnected with Willard Hoffman. On August 21, 1949 they were married in the Methodist Church in Crookston. Their lives together were spent in Valentine, Nebraska, where they were engaged in the electrical business, and after 1964 in Show Low, Arizona, where Willard was electrical engineer at a paper mill. They enjoyed their retirement years in Mesa, Arizona, where Maurine's husband preceded her in death on December 31, 1997. Maurine continued to live in retirement facilities first in Mesa and then in Littleton, Colorado for 15 years, until her death on December 30, 2015.
Maurine was interested in genealogy and was an avid reader. When she was younger, Maurine substitute taught and enjoyed educating children. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
