Merle Whipple Jr.

Merle Eugene Whipple Jr. 65, of Centennial, Colorado passed away December 3, 2013 at the University of Colorado.

Merle was born March 17, 1948 in Buda, Illinois to Merle E. and Verda Whipple.

He graduated from Western Community with top honors in English and Math. Merle joined the Navy in 1966. His time in the navy ignited his passion for information technology. While working with ITT he settled in Colorado and later went to work for the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Aurora, Colorado.

Merle loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his beloved wife, Lorri of 23 years. He also enjoyed staying up to date with all of the latest technology, watching TV shows like NCIS, CBS Sunday Morning and Sunday Football with his brother-in-law and best friend Dave Trowbridge.

Merle is survived by his sisters Dorle Williams and Gayle Whipple (Jim), the 4 children he raised on his own; Christina Oehm (Greg), Katherine Whipple (Graham), Kimberly Whipple (Virgil), Heather Whipple (Martin). His wife Lorri and her children Katrina Cantrell (Keith), April Lapworth (Brandon), Danny Beardslee and the child they had together Sandy Whipple (Paul), 4 nephews, 2 nieces and 12 grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dale Whipple.
