Meryl Alice COWAN

Meryl passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 in Longmont, CO. She was born on February 6, 1920 in Rivers, Manitoba, Canada to William and Ruth Beghtel. She moved to Indiana in the 1920s and graduated from James Riley High School in 1938. She had a radio program with her sisters until the early 1940s. She married Denzel Cowan on June 21, 1944. Son, William was born on July 11, 1945 in California. They moved to Mishawaka, Indiana in the late 1940s and opened one of the first Dog-n-Suds. Son James was born April 4, 1957 in Mishawaka. They moved to Colorado and settled in the Denver area in 1970. Along with her husband they owned several resaurants until their retirement. They moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1996 where she stayed until 2009. She moved to Life Care Center of Longmont in 2009 and remained there until her death. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Life Care Center for their dedicated care of mom.

Preceded in death by her husband, Denny; her sisters, Charlotte, Dorothy, June and Jeanette; her three brothers, Don, Roy and Bernard; and granddaughter, Kristen. She is survived by her two sons, Bill (Polly) and Jim (Peggy); and grandchildren: Laurie, Beth, Angela, David, and Mark; and 5 great grandchildren.
