Mildred Signe (Peterson) Simpson , 93, of Aurora, passed away December 17, 2016.

Mildred was born July 6, 1923 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the daughter of Isaac and Clara (Forbord ) Peterson. She was Baptized on September 16, 1923 and completed her confirmation instruction on November 15, 1936, at Norway, Lutheran Church in rural Devils Lake.

Mildred is survived by her loving husband of 71 years Carson D. Simpson; daughters Cynthia (Fred) Burdick, Kathleen (Randall) Henderson, and Kristine Simpson; grandchildren Laura (John) Duggan, Carolyn (Jake) Einig Taylor, Tim (Elizabeth) Simpson, Jeff Henderson, Jill Henderson, Kristina (Mark) Keenan; eight great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.

Throughout her life Mildred was an active volunteer in the community and in her church. After high school graduation, college and teaching school Mildred joined the US Navy during WWII. While in the Navy she met her husband Carson and then settled in Lakewood, Colorado where they raised their three daughters. As a military family, Mildred and her family moved numerous times until they settled in Aurora, Colorado where Carson retired from active duty.

Next came many happy years of traveling, bowling, Senior Olympics, volunteering and enjoying grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
