Myles (Mike) Dennis Stearman was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 16, 1932, to Harriet and Waverly Stearman and was the middle child of five children. Mike's father Waverly and his Uncle Lloyd were instrumental in the development of the Stearman Airplane utilized in World War II. After high school, he attended the Missouri School of Mines and graduated with an Engineering degree and embarked on his career working with Standard Oil Company, Lockheed, Texaco and Ladd Petroleum. Mike retired from Ladd Petroleum in 1988.
He married Shirley Ann Moore (deceased 1988) from Spokane Washington in 1957. He served in the US Army, Corps of Engineer as a Company Commander from 1956 to 1958 and was responsible for operation of the company field and school training of personnel at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
On December 6, 1989, Mike married his second love, Annette Desmarais. They wed in Black Diamond, Washington and built their dream home in Roxborough Park, Littleton, Colorado.
Mike was known for his love of the Colorado mountains, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed a golf game or two with friends. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord, his inner strength, sense of humor, and his love for his grandchildren.
Mike was diagnosed with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) a rare neurological degenerative disease. Throughout his struggle with PSP, he kept his faith and perseverance and love for life. He passed away on March 6, 2014, quietly at home surrounded by loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Annette; his two sisters: Carolyn and Gwendolyn and his brother Tony Stearman; his daughters Linda Doan and Julie Holcomb, his sons: Mark, Gregory, and Michael Stearman. Myles is survived by six grandchildren: Loren Stearman, Mary Katherine Stearman, Keilea Orr, Kelsey Orr, Zack Holcomb, and Cody Holcomb.
He was preceded in death by Shirley Stearman (wife), Waverly Stearman (father), Harriet Stearman (mother), Paul Stearman (brother), and Kali Dawn Holcomb (granddaughter).
