Nancy E. Hegler, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and wife, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 21, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on May 19, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington, Nancy's life was a testament to love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Nancy dedicated approximately 20 years of her life to nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and was known for her compassionate care in various hospitals and doctors' offices. Her commitment to service was matched only by her love for her family and community. She was a radiant spirit known for her kindness and selflessness, always willing to give the shirt off her back to someone in need.
Holidays were a magical time in Nancy's home; she adored decorating for every season and reveling in the joy they brought. Friends and neighbors alike looked forward to her annual holiday treats, particularly her famous sugar cookies, which were the highlight of many gatherings. Known as a wonderful baker, she poured her heart into creating a variety of cookies that elicited smiles and warm memories from those who were fortunate enough to receive them.
Beyond her culinary talents, Nancy cherished watching Hallmark movies, going out to eat, and loved spending time with her grandchildren—Gage, Crew, and Sophia—who brought her immense joy. Her passion for conversation was unmatched; talking was like breathing to her, as she formed connections with everyone she met.
Married to her beloved husband Bernie for 55 beautiful years, Nancy was most proud of raising her children, Elaine and James (Britt). Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did, as was her deep and abiding faith in the Lord, which guided her through every chapter of her life.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband Bernie, her devoted children Elaine and James (Britt), her cherished grandchildren Gage, Crew, and Sophia, as well as her brothers Dan (Diane) and John. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of love, generosity, and unconditional support.
A visitation and celebration of life will take place on December 19, 2025, at Red Rocks Baptist Church, located at 14771 West Morrison Road, Lakewood, CO 80228, with visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO 80236, starting at 3:00 PM.
As we gather to honor her memory, let us remember Nancy E. Hegler not just for the roles she played in our lives but for the love and light she brought to all who knew her. She will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding star illuminating our paths with her gentle spirit.
