Naomi Cilehe Chavez

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Naomi Cilehe Chavez, who left us far too soon on July 28, 2026, in her hometown of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Born on March 14, 2002, in Wheat Ridge, Naomi’s life, though brief, was filled with a profound love for her family, a dedication to helping others, and an indelible kindness that deeply touched all those who knew her.

Naomi was the beloved daughter of Gaylene Lopez and Isaac Chavez, and step-daughter of Ed Banos. She shared a special bond with her sisters, Olivia Lopez and Brittney Norodom, and her step-siblings, Jenna Banos, Brandon Banos, and Brian Banos. Her family circle also included her loving grandmother Roberta Vigil-Moreno, her uncle Russell Lopez, and her aunt Jonelle Jarrell. Naomi leaves behind a family whose hearts ache in her absence but remain full of gratitude for every moment spent with her.

She follows in the footsteps of those who went before her: her grandfathers, John Lopez and Isaac Chavez Sr., her grandmother Corina Chavez; great-grandfather, Rudy Vigil and her great-grandmother Elizabeth Saunders, whose spirits surely embrace her now.

From a young age, Naomi approached life with intellectual curiosity, empathy, and determination. She excelled academically, earning her associate’s degree in social work with Suma Cum Laude honors—a perfect 4.0—from the Community College of Denver in May 2024. Always striving to make a difference, she continued her studies at MSU, dedicated to pursuing her bachelor’s degree in social work. Naomi’s quiet compassion was the foundation of her dream to uplift and support others, reflecting her deeply held belief in the power of kindness.

Beyond her studies, Naomi’s gentle presence shone in the everyday joys she shared with her loved ones. She adored animals, especially her beloved cat, Monkey, and found happiness in playful hours immersed in video games and fresh bouquet of flowers. Naomi’s appreciation for good food, from her own kitchen creations to her momma’s cooking—which she truly treasured—provided comfort and connection during family gatherings. She embraced modern conveniences, delighting in the simple pleasure of ordering through Amazon and Uber Eats, always finding humor and warmth in daily rituals.

Family meant everything to Naomi, and especially the cherished bond she had with her mother. Though quiet by nature, she was always involved and present, a thoughtful listener who made every member of her family feel valued. Her health-conscious choices reflected her care for herself and those around her, a gentle reminder to loved ones of the importance of well-being.

Naomi’s life was also rich in adventure and discovery. She was fortunate to travel with her family, creating treasured memories on journeys to Hawaii—three times—Mexico, Seattle, Texas, California and Oklahoma. These experiences infused her spirit with joy and opened her heart to the beauty of the world, forming stories that will be retold lovingly for years to come.

Her legacy is carried by those who survive her: the devoted family that she loved so deeply, and the friends and classmates whose lives she touched with understanding and kindness.

To honor Naomi’s memory, a Rosary will be held at Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 3900 Pierce St, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, on August 28, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. All who loved Naomi are invited to join her family in remembrance, to celebrate her life, and to cherish the gentle, lasting light she gifted the world.

Though Naomi’s time with us was heartbreakingly short, her legacy of love, empathy, and strength will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory remains a blessing, and her kindness will never be forgotten.
