Nellie M. Sexton, 84, of Denver, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011.
She was born on August 15, 1927 in Rosedale, Alabama to Henry and Emma Champion. Nell grew up in the area attending country school. On October 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Raymond Sexton and to this union, Brenda, Ray, Roy, Dar and Benita were born. Nell lived in Northport, Alabama until 1956, when they moved to Denver for the remainder of her life. During her working years she was employed at the Gates Rubber Company for almost 13 years, where she was Head Inspector until her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethics. She loved to cook for her family and she loved to make quilts for all of her family members, each quilt was a labor of love. She was always taking care of everyone. Nell loved being with people, visiting on the telephone and especially spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandma and great-grandma.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Henry G. and Emma E. (Kizziah) Champion; husband, Raymond Sexton; three sisters, Lorene Perrin, Sylvia Blache, Marie Champion; two sisters-in-law, Maude Hall and Flo Sexton; and a great-grandson, John David Toavs.
She is survived by five children, Brenda (Bill) Selby, of Shenandoah, Iowa, Ray Sexton, of Pampa, Texas. Roy (Chris) Sexton, of Strasburg, Colorado, Dar Johnson, of North Port, Florida and Benita (Greg) White, of Denver, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren, Lisa (Donnie) McKellips, Monahans, Texas, Angel (Chuck) Ford, Amarillo, Texas, Dillon (Min ju Eumn) Sexton, Korea, Amber (Eric) Long, Morrison, Colorado, Matthew White, Jason Becker, Rachael (Charlie) Schmalz, Tiffanni Wiegand, all of Denver, Colorado, William (Carissa) Yates, Aurora, Colorado, Scott Selby, Adel, Iowa, Ryan (Jamie) Selby, Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Donovan Sexton, Pampa, Texas, Cheyenne (Billy) Morris; 19 great-grandchildren, Tasha, MaCaley, Jenifer, Ricky, Stephanie, Leighanne, Rebekah, Levi, Raechel, Sierra, Alexa, Travis, Sammy, Tasia, Breauna, Sandra, Coen, Chanie and Andrew; five great-great grandsons, Dyllan, Kaden, Dominic, Trevyr and Rylan; two sisters Jane (Preston) Crocker and Emily (Warren) Bender; two brothers, Charles (Delores) Champion and Larry (Irene) Champion; two sisters-in-law, Vera Sexton and Estelle Robertson; several nieces and nephews and friends.
