Newell H. Mason

Newell H. Mason passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2014. He was making great strides recovering from a brief illness when he passed away at home. Newell, the second to last of 13 children, and is survived by his loving wife Louise of 64 years, children Bruce Mason (Nicki), Debra Thatcher (Steve), Annette Southall (Charles), and Charlotte Mason. Grandchildren Matthew, Brandon, Rodney, Amy, and Melissa, as well as nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Newell is also survived by his last remaining sibling, Marie Hart (age 100) residing in Chico, California, formerly of Lafayette, CA.

Newell worked for the Denver Public Schools for 38 years before retiring as a supervising Foreman at age 56. He will always be remembered as a man whose love and pride in his family was foremost in his life. His laugh and smile will always be with us.

A private family memorial will be held. A gathering at Newell's and Louise's home will be scheduled at a later date for all who wish to celebrate his life.

Memorial donations in Newell's honor may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
