Nicholas A. Fresquez, known affectionately to many as Nick, passed away on May 16, 2026, in Englewood, Colorado. Born in Denver on January 31, 1959, Nick lived a life marked by generosity, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Nick’s journey was one defined by a big heart and an optimistic spirit that touched everyone he met. From an early age, he shouldered responsibility with grace, caring deeply for his younger siblings after the passing of their mother. This strength and compassion carried through all aspects of his life. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kathy Marie Fresquez (Mesquita), and a proud father to his three beloved daughters: Starshima Fresquez (Louie), Brandi Fresquez (Dewey), and Elise Topliss (Jesse). Nick’s true pride and joy were his grandchildren—Alexa, Joseph, Dewey, Nicole, Axton, and Averie—and his two great-grandchildren, Parker and Alice, all of whom he loved unconditionally.
Nick’s career reflected his commitment to others as well. For several years, he worked at Sysco, where he served as a Union Steward, advocating for the rights and well-being of his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Nick found joy and rejuvenation in the outdoors. Whether it was playing baseball, fishing or riding his motorcycle he embraced the beauty and adventure life had to offer. He shared special moments playing slots as a team with Kathy at Black Hawk, a pastime that symbolized their companionship and teamwork.
Those close to Nick remember him as a man who saw the opportunity to help others as a personal test of character—a belief rooted in his faith. He often said that when faced with such moments, he considered it Jesus testing him, and he was always determined to do the right thing. This spirit of generosity, kindness, and care defined his personality throughout his life.
Nick’s story is also one of resilience and love for family, deeply influenced by the memory of his parents Antonita and Faustin Fresquez, and his brothers, Carmen, Frankie, Faustin (Tinnie), and Frank “Richard,” who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Luciano Fresquez (Alexis), who remains an important part of his family’s circle of love.
He passed away on his terms, much like he approached life—with strength, dignity, and an unyielding sense of self. His legacy will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul profoundly cherished.
