Norbert "Norb" Charles Spenner, a beloved husband, father/father in law, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Colorado on April 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on May 10, 1935, in Nebraska, Norb carried with him a spirit that was as expansive as the plains he hailed from. Throughout his life, he embraced every moment with a zest that was infectious, filling the lives of those around him with laughter and joy.
A proud veteran, Norb served in the Navy for four years. His latter two years he served aboard the USS Hornet Air Craft Carrier. He attended schooling in San Diego, where he began building a future that combined both service and intellect. After his time in the military, he continued his education at Front Range Community College, focusing on his love for electronics and further enhancing his ability to understand and connect with the world around him.
Norb was known for his good sense of humor and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. His tender heart shone brightly in everything he did, whether it was sharing a laugh or offering a listening ear. He cherished good times, and his zest for life was evident in his many hobbies. Norb had a passion for golf, auto racing, softball, and pickleball. He often spoke fondly of his trips to Utah—Moab and Zion were among his favorite destinations—but no place held his heart quite like the beautiful landscapes of Colorado.
As a coach of a senior softball team, Norb achieved one of his proudest moments when he turned an unassisted triple play, a triumph celebrated in local news. Golf also brought him joy, as he proudly recorded not one, but two hole-in-ones throughout his lifetime.
Norb's journey was not without its challenges; he faced a prolonged illness for two years leading up to his passing. Yet, through it all, he remained remarkably positive and cheerful, embodying the strength of spirit for which he will always be remembered. He fought the good fight, exemplifying resilience and grace until the very end.
Norb leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife Beverly, and their two sons, Mike (Sandi) and Mark (Kelly). He was deeply cherished by his grandsons, Chris and Josh, and is survived by his siblings Rita, Jerry, and Janice. Norb joins his late parents, John and Frances, and his sisters Cathy and Toni in eternal rest.
In honoring Norb's legacy, we celebrate a life filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. His presence will be dearly missed, but the joy he brought into the lives of others will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
