Norman B. Wood, 73, of Littleton, CO passed away on February 21 after a lengthy illness. He was born December 6, 1939 in Humphrey, New York, to Bruce Norman Wood and Anna Nissen. His family moved to Loveland, CO, when he was five. Norm graduated from Loveland High School in 1959. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
Norm's banking career totaled 39 years and included numerous positions. He has served as president and director for five metro banks within the following bank holding corporations: Intrawest Banks of Colorado, Commercial Bancorp of Colorado, Century Banks, and Golden Banks of Colorado. Prior to moving to the Denver metro area in 1984, he was employed by Intrawest Bank in Greeley, CO for 17 years. Community activities included service in various chamber of commerce organizations, Rotary Clubs, and United Way. Norm served on the Board of Directors for the Greeley Salvation Army, the University of Northern Colorado Alumni Association, and the Colorado Symphony. He also served as Mayoral Appointment to Greenwood Village Annexation Committee and treasurer of the Greenwood Village Business Association. Norm retired in 2006 from Wells Fargo.
After retirement, Norm began to regularly worship at Southern Gables Church. He grew spiritually and came to a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which he expressed by being baptized. Norm especially enjoyed meeting with a group of men in a church life group for Bible study.
Norm is survived by Jane, his loving wife of 48 years, and his adorable dachshund, Cosworth.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Gables Church, 4001 S. Wadsworth, in Littleton. Memorial contributions may be made to Denver Dumb Friends League, Southern Gables Church, or charity of choice.
