Norris G. Netz

September 13, 1929 — December 26, 2015

Norris G. Netz, 86, of Aurora, passed away December 26, 2015.

Norris was born September 13, 1929 in Osmond, Nebraska to Carl A. and Alvena C. (Hinrichsen) Netz. Farming was a part of his heritage and for five years he and his brother farmed northwest of Osmond while also being an owner/operator trucker, hauling livestock to market. He had a passion for bowling and was hired as the manager of the local bowling alley. During this period in his life he was drafted into the Army and served from 1951 through 1953 as a Corporal in the 2nd mortar division of the Korean War.

After returning from overseas duty, he was employed by Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company in 1953. He married, Elaine West in 1954 becoming life partners for 61 years and proud parents of Deborah and Bruce. They relocated to Colorado in 1960 where he was employed by West Gas, a division of Xcel Energy, installing/inspecting/maintaining the natural gas pipelines throughout Colorado. One of his most enjoyable inspection jobs was walking the pipeline over the mountains searching/testing for leaks and damages. When he retired, he was replaced not by a person but by a helicopter. Norris retired in 1992.

His many enjoyments in life started with being a successful bowler, participating in many leagues and tournaments achieving numerous awards. He played baseball and enjoyed traveling to many baseball playoffs sharing his love for the game with everyone. Another enjoyment was camping/tenting throughout Colorado, teaching his two children the art of fishing. Graduating from tent to RV, traveling coast to coast became his new adventure. He was the barbecue specialist in the family always enjoying good food and fun.

Norris is survived by his wife, Elaine Netz; two children, Deborah Carson and Bruce (Anna) Netz; three grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) Netz, Melisa Geisert, and Mitchel (Jessica) Carson; three great-grandchildren, Jade Netz, Christian Carson, and Hayden Carson; and sister, Violet Kratochvil. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Alvena Netz; and brother, Donald Netz. Family brought him great happiness and he deeply loved them all.
