Opal Jean Muncy, 76, of Aurora, Colorado, went home to the Lord December 19, 2014.
Opal was born November 21, 1938 to Austin and Pearlee Evans of Beebe, Arkansas.
Opal retired from the Aurora Public Schools where she served as a media specialist and touched the lives of hundreds of children.
Opal married Orval Dean Muncy and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage together.
Dean was in the Air Force and together they traveled to wherever he was stationed which included Rapid City, South Dakota, Orlando, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Opal and Dean settled into a home in Aurora, Colorado to raise a family.
Opal loved animals and adopted many. Opal loved her church, her many, many friends, reading mysteries and working on crafts. Opal donated to many charitable organizations. In addition, Opal boasts one of the largest collections of Santa Clause memorabilia in the state, if not the country.
Quick witted and fun loving, Opal never met a stranger and would cheerfully have a conversation with anyone who cared to join her.
Opal was known for her flair with sparkling hats and holiday attire for any and all occasions.
Opal is survived by her husband, Orval Dean, children Jimmy Muncy, Deanna Muncy and Beverly Cahill all of Aurora, Colorado, two granddaughters, Meredith Cahill and Madeline Cahill also of Aurora, Colorado, mother Pearlee Evans, sisters Joyce Raleigh and Sharon Zardo, brother Harold Evans all of Arkansas,son in law Elgin Cahill of Aurora, Colorado, her beloved dog Bandit, and approximately 2000 Santas.
She was greeted in Heaven by her father Austin, sister Shirley, brother Sonny, nephew Jeff and her beloved dogs Mitzi and Kippie.
