Ora Otto King, 74, peacefully passed into eternal life to be with the Lord on August 15, 2025. His faith in Christ guided his every step. Ora was born to Gilbert and Anna (nee Kranz) in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, on August 29, 1950. He was reborn through the washing of Holy Baptism on March 2, 1952, at Frist Lutheran Church in Kingsley, Iowa. He moved to the metro Denver area of Colorado with his parents and siblings when he was 2 years old. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at Atonement Lutheran Church in the Littleton-Englewood area on June 6, 1965. Ora is a founding member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denver. Zion formed when Atonement and Calvary Lutheran Churches merged in 1965.
Ora graduated from Alameda High School in 1969. He began his 39-year career in the United States Postal Service in 1970. He married his former spouse, Claudia (nee McNall) on June 12, 1970. The couple had two children who they adored, Angela and Darren. Ora married Pauline (nee Schmidt) on May 5, 1984, at Zion. Ora and Pauline had two children who they adored, Nathan and Matthew.
Ora expressed his joy of life through many hobbies. He enjoyed downhill skiing, fishing, bowling, card playing, traveling, bicycle riding, camping, reading books, and smoking cigars to name a few. He forged many friendships and memories through these pursuits while spreading laughter everywhere he went.
Ora was a dedicated member of Zion where his servant heart truly shined. He served as property administrator, head usher, and elder among numerous other roles. Ora was always willing to lend a helping hand to church, family, and friends. He also spread joy through a 5-year career of school bus driving during retirement. Ora remained a humble servant to the Lord and God’s people until the day he was called home to heaven.
Ora is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pauline; sons Darren (Amy), Nathan, and Matthew; grandchildren Brianna (Ryan), Joshua (Ashley), Jakob, Allyssa (Matthew), Chase, Jackson, and Jurnee; great grandchildren Elijah, Malachi, Paisley, Maverick, and Ivy; and siblings Sandy, Patty, Carol, Karen, David, and Dennis. Ora was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela, his siblings Ted, Gloria, Bob, Ronnie, and Marty; and his parents.
The family suggests memorials in Ora’s name to his church, Zion Lutheran Church.
