Orval Dean Muncy went home to the Lord on Sunday February 26, 2017 following a long illness. He was 79 years old.
Dean was born and raised in Chillicothe Ohio. An avid athlete, Dean played baseball and basketball for his high school teams and remained a fan of sports his entire life, never missing a Bronco game.
Following his high school graduation, Dean joined the United States Air Force where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. Dean served in both Vietnam and Korea and spent several months in Guam. He traveled extensively with the military and his stops included time in England and Morocco. Dean was an electronic technician for the Air Force and was in command of several different groups of Airmen.
While serving, Dean found himself stationed in Little Rock Arkansas where he met his roommate's girlfriend, Opal. They caught each other's eye and Opal's affections soon shifted to the young and tall Dean. They married and remained the love of each other's lives for 56 years until the time of her passing in 2014.
Dean and Opal lived in many areas of The United States during their marriage including Orlando Florida, Las Vegas Nevada, and, finally, Aurora Colorado where they resided for the bulk of their marriage.
Quiet and private, Dean had a small, but tight knit group of friends that he and Opal enjoyed spending time with. Dean also enjoyed family vacations and a romantic getaway to Hawaii and an anniversary cruise with Opal. He was proud of his home and loved that he had the best lawn and garden in the neighborhood, even being awarded "Best Lawn in Aurora".
Dean is preceded in death by his father Orville, mother Florence and wife Opal. He is survived by his son Jimmy, daughter Deanna, daughter Beverly, son in law Elgin, granddaughter Meredith and granddaughter Madeline.
Dean was very loved by his family and, even though he will be greatly missed, they are pleased he is at peace, out of pain, and with his love Opal.
